Indira Mohapatra was born on February 6, 1946, in the city of Puri. Her parents are Parbati Devi and Lokanath Mahapatra. She completed her graduation from Shailabala College. Indira began her literary journey with poetry and, over the past four decades, has established herself as a prolific writer of stories, novels, travelogues, and children’s literature. Balancing her role as a housewife with her creative pursuits, she carved out a distinct identity in the literary world and earned admiration as a gifted storyteller. Her first published collection of short stories, Satitwa Ityadi, appeared in 1987, marking the beginning of her enduring contribution to Odia literature.
