Professor Dasarathi Das is a famous novelist, essayist and critic of Odia and English language. He was Born on July 27, 1936 in Ayatpur village of Kendrapada district. After completing his studies, he started working as a professor in the Department of Odia language and literature. From 1959 to 1987, he earned great reputation as a dutiful ideal professor by teaching in various government colleges in Balasore, Phulbani, Angul, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. He also taught in the Ravenshaw University for sometime. In 1988, he retired from his teaching profession as a distinguished professor of Odia language and literature at Brahmapur University. Shri Das was honored with the prestigious "Sahitya Akademi Award" in 1976 for his book “Prasanga Puruna Bhabana Nua"- a collection of Odia essays dealing with the poetic traditions of Odisha”. He also conferred the "Jhankar" award in 1980 for his high-value outstanding speech. He has written more than ten books based on various departments of literature. The collection carries a finely crafted critical analysis, comparative analysis of various genres, processes, traditions and movement of Odisha. Some of his  literary works like "Kavya Sambad", "Kabisurya Kavyavibha", "Matrulokare Rutu Saptama", "Chinhamati Achihna Akash", "Nana Nibandha", "Sahitya Vivek", "Bidagdha Manas", "Ayitiha O Adhunikata" were so popular among the readers.
