Chakradhar Mohapatra, writer and researcher, was born in 1908 in Narsinghpur, Cuttack district. His childhood was full of struggles. He came to Cuttack for study, and spent the rest of his life there.
In his youth, he participated in the freedom struggle and attended Congress sessions at Calcutta and Karachi.
Shri Mohapatra authored mostly novels, biographies, and research books. He won the Odisha Sahitya Akademi Award in 1974 for his epic work ‘Kuntala Kumari Jeevan Charita’. He was fluent in Odia, Hindi, Bengali, English and Sanskrit. He worked as a language expert for the Encyclopaedia published by the Utkal University. He also served as the Endowment Manager of Narsinghpur State.
His wife Kanak Manjari Mohapatra is known as a writer of children's literature. Shri Mohapatra breathed his last on October 24, 1982.
