Shri Krupa Sagar Sahoo is an eminent Odia writer. Born on July 16, 1952 in Dhenkanal district of Odisha. His mother was Smt Sita Sahu and father Shivcharan Sahu. After initial schooling in his village, he persuades his bachelor’s from the renowned Ravenshaw College, Cuttack in 1972 and did his Master’s in Political Science from Utkal University in the year 1968. He started his professional carrier as a professor for a certain period of time. Afterward, he joined Indian Railway Traffic Services(IRTS) in 1978 and later held many important posts and served the Indian Railways for thirty-four years. During this tenure, he was posted in various zones of Indian Railways and had the good fortune to draw inspiration from his experiences with people at work and in life in general. He started his literary career as a poet. His first book “Upare Farcha Akash” was published in the year 1990. As the name of the book suggests, he has drawn inspiration from mother earth, the sky, and nature. Cast romantically his poems encompass in their sweep broader themes of love, despair, and enduring human aspirations.  Shri Sahoo's sensibility has been tempered by his profession which has provided an extra dimension to his poetry, a more thoughtful and richer one, to his feelings of empathy and involvement". His style of subtle humor has earned him a niche in the world of Odia literature. Nature in all its manifestations, the animal kingdom, and the common man are also some of the recurring themes in his writings.  In addition to novels, he is also a prolific writer and author of short stories and poems. More than fifty of his short stories have Indian Railways as the theme. “Tale Basumata”, “Jyoti O Tamasa”, “Naa Mo Railagadi”, “Aranya Ajgar”, “Hansadhwani”, “Suaa kahe Sarilo”, “Sesa Sarata”, “Gadajata Galpa”, “Kain Pokharire Prema”, “Jharapatrare Jhada” are his most notable literary achievements.  He is a leading name in Odia literature, with thirteen short story collections and six novels to his credit. Many of his stories have been translated into English and other major Indian languages and have gained appreciation from the readers.
He has been honored with "Pravasi Bandhu Samman", "Akhilachakra Samman", "Kalingaprabha Galpa Award", and "Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Samman", "Priyapatra Samman", "Mallika Samman", "Tapaswini Samman" for unforgettable literary works. He was also a recipient of the Odisha Sahitya Academy Award 2009 for his original novel Shesha Sarat, which has been translated to English under the title Chilika: A Love Story.
