Kabimanjula Krushnaprasad Basu

Kabimanjula Krushnaprasad Basu was born in Kuanspur village in Jajpur under the erstwhile Cuttack district. As a writer, singer and musician, he was a diverse-talented personality.

Kavimanjula had deep access in theatrical plays, songs, palas, stories, novels, and other prose compositions. He was a playwright, director and theatre organiser. He was the founder of 'Biraja Opera' in Jajpur, 'Syamsundar Theatre' in Bhadrak, 'Natya Mandir' in Brahmapur and Basanti Theatre in Basta.

Krushna Prasad authored song compilations like 'Sangeet Phoolahara', 'Prasad Gitavali', 'Alkananda', 'Prasad Padyabali' and 'Parikalpana'. He has written 37 Kavyas liberally  citedby Pala artists. He wrote  songs for theatres as well as for gramophone companies. He made history by composing more than 1,500 songs.

Kavimanjul was a trainer of the Odia section of the HMV Company. He also composed song for the film ‘Shri Jagannath’. For his profound erudition and poetic expertise, Krushnaprasad is popularly known as Kabimanjula in the length and breadth of Odisha.
